Blood Bowl: Ars Maledicta League - Cup/Match Day #4

With my loss to Full-Field Press, I honesty was afraid I was going to loose this next match as well, because it was against a Pro Elf team called the Bro Elves. My slow brute Orcs versus fast, and agile Elves. I figured I'd either be dodged all over, and passed all over, probably both to be honest. So my game plan here was to shut down the Bro Elves passing game, and just do what ever I had to, to shut down their running game as well.

Match Date: 12-08-2011

My opponent kicked the ball off to me, sadly the Elves couldn't even kick the ball past the LoS, so the ball was placed into the hands of my Thrower. I formed up my cage, and went straight up the middle of the pitch, as I figured I'd use my Black Orcs to extend the defensive range of my cage, not to mention the Elves would have a very hard time doing anything to Black Orcs. My opponent manage to KO one of my Linemen, while moving four Elves in to try to disrupt my cage.

My cage continue it's drive up the center of the pitch, and was now across the LoS, and a Black Orc managed to KO an Elf on the LoS. My opponent managed to get an Elf next to my Thrower, but wasn't able to successfully get any other players into my Throwers tackle zone. The Elves didn't seem to have the strength to stop the cage, just slow it down some.

The Elf that was next to my Thrower was quickly pushed aside by a Black Orc. I wasn't able to move my cage as far as I wanted, but still managed to get a few yards, while the rest of my team threw out some blocks, but didn't manage any injuries, or KO's. My opponent again wasn't able to stop the cage, only slow it down, however did manage to get another Elf next to my Thrower from the rear of the cage.

I managed to stun three Elves, and move the cage a few more yards. Again the Elves were drastically slowing down my cage, and it was starting to look like I wasn't going to be able to score in the first half of the game. I then suffered a turnover from an attacker down roll. My opponent didn't have much luck either as he suffered an injury that caused a turnover when an Elf failed it's Dodge roll when trying to leave the tackle box of a Black Orc.

With another Elf out of the game, and several others still laying stunned on the pitch, I was able to get a nice chunk of yards with my cage. I was now half way to the end zone on turn five. It was going to be close, but I figured I should be able to score at this point. My opponent stood up his downed players, and began moving them in between my cage, and the end zone. The Elves were determined to stop me from scoring!

My cage moved forward towards the end zone, blocking any Elves that stood in the way. However I wasn't able to get the yardage I was hoping for, and once again it looked like the Elves had slowed me down. My opponent moved three Elves in between the cage, and the end zone, while moving three other Elves to the rear of the cage, and tried to blitz into a Black Orc, however the Black Orc held strong, and the Elves only managed a push.

Once more the cage continued it's drive up the center of the pitch, but ran smack into two defending Elves. One of my Blitzers in the back made a block against an Elf Blitzer, and thanks to Side Step put the Elf Blitzer in perfect blitzing range of my Thrower! After all that work, driving the cage up the center of the pitch, my touchdown was now in serious jeopardy, as that Elf Blitzer could easy dodge out of my Orc Blitzers tackle box, and blitz into my Thrower. Sure enough my opponent went for the blitz with his Elf Blitzer, but lucky for me my Orc Blitzer kicked the Elf in the back of the head as he tried to Dodge out of the Blitzers tack box knocking the Elf to the ground!

Thanks to my opponents turnover, I blocked the two defending Elves out of the way, and my Thrower was able to easily run the ball into the end zone on turn eight scoring a touchdown. The score was 1-0 in my favor as the first half of the game came to an end.

Gob Redface Scores The First Touchdown Of The Game

I kicked the ball off to my opponent, and managed a horrible kick, just a few yards past the LoS. My opponent grabbed up the ball, and quickly formed up his defenses. I had to manged two defensive options, shut down the Elven passing game, and running game. It wasn't going to be easy. I opened up with a blitz from one of my Blitzers, and managed to get a KO on a defending Elf, while moving the rest of my team into position to throw blocks against the rest of the defending Elves, and also kept my Thrower, and my Blitzer with Tackle in the back of pitch to defend against any passes the Elves threw.

My opponent moved his Catcher down the right edge of the pitch, and stopped right beside my Thrower, along with a Lineman for protection. Then his Thrower move down along the same path as the Catcher, and went for the pass. The pass was successful, however thanks to it being Very Sunny, the Catcher failed to catch the ball causing a turnover. The ball was right at the feet of my Thrower, so I blitzed a near by Blitzer in an attempt to clear the Elves away from the ball, however the damn Blitzer tried to pick up the ball as well, and failed, causing a turnover! It was a costly mistake on my part.

My opponent moved another Elven Lineman near my Thrower, and with the help of the other Elven Lineman that was already nearby, stunned my Thrower. The Elven Catcher then blitzed into my Orc Blitzer pushing him aside, and recovered the ball, then ran straight towards the end zone, but didn't make it in. My opponent decided to err on the side of caution, and not try for a GFI. All I had in range was the Orc Blitzer that was pushed aside by the Elven Catcher, so I blitzed him into the Elven Catch hoping to knock him down, however the pesky Elf dodged the oncoming blitz right into the end zone scoring a touchdown. The game was now tied up at 1-1 with only five turns left in the second half of the game!

My opponent kicked off the ball to me, and I recovered the ball, formed up a cage, and started driving up the center of the pitch again, while one of my Black Orcs on the LoS managed to get an injury on one of the defending Elves. Amazingly, my opponent didn't move any of his players forward, in fact he moved them all backwards towards the end zone, even the defending Elves on the LoS.

I moved my cage up to the LoS within range of my four defending Black Orcs totally unopposed. I now had four turns to cross the LoS, and score another touchdown or else this game was going to end in a draw. My opponent didn't move a single player, he left them all standing in the exact same spot he'd left the last turn, honestly this move was pretty surprising to me.

It was time to go balls to the wall, I had to smash through the Eleven defense, and score! Three of my Black Orcs moved into blocking range of the Elven defenders, while a fourth blitzed into an Elven Lineman pushing him aside, I moved my Blitzer defended cage right up behind my Black Orcs, while being supported by my Linemen. My opponent fired back with two of his defending Elves, however only managed to get a push on an Orc Blitzer.

I continued to smash through the Elven defense, as a Orc Blitzer blitzed, and managed to KO a defending Elf. This opened a nice hole on the left side of the pitch, and I was able to get my cage half way to the end zone with only one turn left for me to score after this one. A Black Orc on the other side of the pitch also managed to get another KO on a defending Elf. On my opponents last turn he fired back, and fired back hard! He managed to open up my cage, and with a blitz from a nearby Elven Blitzer hit my Thrower, Dump-Off was a success, but the near by Orc Blitzer that was supposed to catch it failed to do so, and the ball fell to the ground near his feet.

It was my final turn, the last turn of the game, and I honestly didn't know what the hell I was going to do to score. I had to pull out a miracle play if I was going to win. I studied the situation for a few seconds, and it finally came to me, I was going to need the blessing of Nuffle if I was going to pull it off!

WARNING: The following paragraph could cause major euphoria, which may in turn may cause an erection of enormous proportion. Should the erection last longer than four hours, seek immediate medical attention from your Doctor!

The ball was at the feet of one of my Orc Blitzers, and I needed to dodge out of the tackle box of an Elven defender to move, and he did so! Then he had to make a GFI to get into the end zone, and he did so! I could not believe this was working so far! My Thrower then moved up, and recovered the ball thanks to Sure Hands, and now I had to pass the ball to the Orc Blitzer in the end zone with coverage! I passed the ball with a Perfect Launch, and my Orc Blitzer caught it! I could not believe I pulled off this play, hell either could my opponent. It was fucking awesome! It was by far the best play I'd managed in my entire Blood Bowl carrier, I'd even have to go as far as to say it was probably one of the best plays in the Ars Maledicta League so far.

Gabth Broketoof Catches The Game Winning Touchdown Pass

If you want to see the pass in action, you can check it out on my YouTube channel!

With a successful passing catch, I scored another touchdown on the last turn of the game, bringing the score to 2-1 in my favor. That winning catch had me excited all damn night, I just couldn't believe that I pulled it off. With that win, the Orkago Boars moved back into second place in the league!

Blood Bowl: Ars Maledicta League - Cup/Match Day #3

My win over the Bestigor Freebooters was the last game of day two, and an admin immediately validated the game, which rolled the league over to day three. The coach for Full-Field Press asked if I wanted to play our game, and I gladly accepted. So it was back to back league matches for me!

In this game I'm facing Full-Field Press, the Ogre team in our league that was quickly making a name for itself, by not only being in the top five of the standings, but also by beating the ever living shit out of the teams it played (see the destruction of Horn 'n' Scorn in my last Blog entry). Hopefully that wasn't going to happen to me, cause Orcs are tough right? I'm up against four Ogres (one with Piling On ... ouch), and seven Snotlings, versus the Orc team I just used against Bestigor Freebooters.

Match Date: 12-04-2011

I elected to receive the ball, as I figured I could quickly score, and then just keep my opponent from scoring, cause Ogre teams are not meant too win, they are meant to injure other teams right? The ball was kicked, I grabbed it up, and formed up my cage. Then I blitzed a Black Orc into a Snotling hoping to take him out, but the little bastard just dodged, and side stepped away.  I held my breath as my opponent opened up with his Ogre who had Piling On, however didn't manage to do the damage he was hoping for. The other Ogres tried as well, but only managed to stun, and push the Black Orcs while the last Ogre was Bone Headed, and couldn't remember what he was supposed to do. The Snotlings moved themselves into various positions of defense, as well as fouling position.

I stood my Orcs up, and then continued my cage drive up the left hand side of the pitch. Once again I tried to take out some Snotlings, but only managed to get a stun, and a push. These little bastards were proving to be more resilient than I'd expected. My opponent continued his attempt at injuring my players, however Piling On failed again, another Ogre failed Bone Head again, and the fouls only managed to stun my down players.

The cage drive continued up the left hand side of the pitch unopposed, and once more I went after some Snotlings, but again only managed a single stun! My opponent wasn't able to do much as two of his Ogres were Bone Headed, and the fouling Snotlings only pulled off a stun. So far my Orcs were doing well against the Ogres bashing them, and the Snotlings fouling them, however I was still holding my breath each time an Ogres turn came up, due to the visual memory of Horn 'n' Scorns CAS box.

Once more the cage continued it's drive up the left side of the pitch, and I was in position to score a touch down totally unopposed, and once more I wasn't able to do a damn thing to the Snotlings. At this point I was getting a little frustrated that I hadn't injured, or even KO'd a single Snotling. My opponents luck wasn't fairing well either, as he didn't managed to get an injury, or KO from the barrage of Ogre blocks, and Snotling fouls once more.

With my Thrower in position to score an easy, and unopposed touch down, I decided I'd hand off the ball off to one of the cage defending Blitzers, as he only needed one SPP point to level, and a touch down would do just that. However my Blitzer thought he was playing a game of hot potato, and placed the ball right back into the hands of my Thrower, amazingly the ball never touched the ground. I then suffered a both down when a Black Orc tried to block an Ogre with the help of a Blitzer causing a turnover. My opponent once again didn't manage to get anything from the Ogre blocking, or Snotling fouling.

Not wanting to risk screwing up my touch down, I decided to just run my thrower into the end zone for the touchdown, bringing the score to 1-0 in my favor. I kicked off to my opponent, trying for an onside kick, the ball landed just past the LoS, hopefully I could recover it fast, and score again. A Snotling recovered the ball, and moved towards the center of the pitch near an Ogre, while the rest of the Snotlings, and Ogres went for more injuries on my players, however they suffered a both down, causing a turnover.

I blitzed through the right side of the LoS, stunning an Ogre, and now had a Blitzer within one square of the ball. I moved a few other players onto the LoS to help with blocking, while keeping two Blitzers, and my Thrower in the back area of the pitch as safeties in case the Ogres decided to throw a Snotling down towards the end zone. My opponent went for a few more blocks, but wasn't able to get the injuries on my players again, however he did setup the Snotling carrying the ball to be propelled towards the end zone.

I moved my two Blitzers, and Thrower into position to hopefully intercept the Snotling that was going to be rocketed by the Ogre towards the end zone, while the rest of my team tried to take out Snotlings, but failed again. Sure enough, my opponent had an Ogre pick up the ball carrying Snotling, and threw him towards the end zone, the little bastard landed perfectly, and ran straight into the end zone scoring a touchdown. So on the last turn of the first half of the game, my opponent had tied the game at 1-1.

With half-time over, I kicked the ball off to my opponent. This time I tried to kick the ball back as far as I could, without it going out of bounds. However Nuffle decided that the ball would land near the LoS again, because that works so well for me last time! My opponent grabbed the ball, and formed up a Snotling cage to protect it, while the remaining Snotlings on the LoS, and Ogres tried to injury my players, but failed. I moved one Blitzer in from the right side of the LoS, while a Black Orc assisted another Blitzer with a blitz that allowed my Blitzer to break through the Snotling cage, right next to the ball carrying Snotling.

My opponent move three Snotlings through a gap that had opened on the LoS, it looked as though he was going to try to either run the ball, or pass it off to another Snotling, however when he tried to move the ball carrying Snotling, my Blitzer knocked him to the ground when he failed his Dodge/Stunty, the ball was loose! I opened up with the same Blitzer that got the ball loose onto another Snotling, and killed him. Finally, ten turns later I actually manage to hurt a Snotling! With the Sneaky Git Snotling dead, I managed to get three of my Blitzers around the ball guarding it, hopefully, I'd be able to recover, and score again.

Ugrpik Elfbane Kills The Sneaky Git Tarnishes The Family Jewels

My opponent wasn't able to recover the ball on his turn, however he did manage to get the ball into a better position when he knocked one of my Blitzers into it, and scatter the ball towards more of his players. I managed to get into perfect position to recover the ball after blitzing through a Snotling, however the greasy fingered Blitzer that was supposed to pick up the ball failed at doing so causing a turnover.

An Ogre opened up with a punch that knocked my greasy fingered Blitzer into the ball, which scattered it even further away from my players, and it was quickly swarmed by several Snotlings. I had no one in range to recover the ball except for my Thrower. Then it happened, what I'd been fearing all game finally happened, an Ogre killed one of my Lineman, however thanks to the speedy action of my apothecary, the death was reversed, and a turned into a Smashed Ankle instead, but the Lineman would suffer a -1 MA for the rest of his carrier.

Uegk Skullsmasher Injured With A Smashed Ankle

I managed to get players near the ball, and was going for a blitz with a Blitzer to hopefully set myself up to actually recover the ball, but messed up! I didn't see the little green Snotling hiding behind an Ogre, against the green pitch, I swear the little bastard was totally camouflaged, and naturally failed to Dodge out of the Snotlings tackle zone causing a turnover. My opponent capitalized on the situation, he knocked another Orc into the ball, which bounced the ball straight into the hands of a nearby Snotling, who then ran the ball straight towards the end zone, and was just a few squares away from scoring.

My Thrower was the only player I had in range to attempt to stop the touchdown, however he'd have to blitz through another Snotling to do so. I blitzed into the Snotling, however the little turd just Dodged away, but I did manage to get my Thrower on top of the ball carrying Snotling. I then suffered an attacker down roll with another Blitzer causing the turnover. My opponent then Dodged out of the tackle zone of my Thrower, and ran the Snotling into the end zone scoring a touchdown, bringing the score to 1-2 in my opponents favor. Ugh!

My opponent kicked off to me, and I recovered the ball. There were only three turns left, and I had little hope of scoring again, unless I moved the ball as fast as I could. So I moved my Thrower as far as I could, and decided to throw the ball to a Blitzer who would then hopefully be able to move the ball further, however my Thrower Scattered the pass. My opponent went for more injuries with blocks, and fouls, but once more failed to get any.

I tried to recover the ball with my Thrower, who immediately dropped it right back down on the ground, causing the turn over. Thanks Nuffle! My opponent tried for more injuries, but actually caused one himself on a both down roll. I finally manged to pick up the ball again, and again went for the long bomb pass, and it was a success, however it was to little to late. The only thing I managed to get was some SPP.

The game was over, and I'd lost to the Ogres. It was a intense game for sure, and I managed to get some decent SPP as well, which brought my Thrower up to level 3, and he gained Leader. This loss however dropped me down to fourth place in the standings.

Blood Bowl: Ars Maledicta League - Cup/Match Day #2

Once again, it's game time!

It's day two of the Ars Maledicta Blood Bowl League, and I'm facing off against a Chaos team named the Bestigor Freebooters. Now I've played against Chaos teams before, and even played Orcs against Chaos in a previous match up in the Naggaroth Open, so I was well aware of my advantages (Thrower, Block, AV9), and that it was going to be a bash fest, which is exactly why this game was nicknamed the Battle of the Beasts.

Match Date: 12-04-2011

I received the ball, and started forming up my cage with my Blitzers, sadly I had to burn a re-roll on the first damn turn, because my Thrower wasn't able to pick the ball up. He must have still had grease on his hands from eating a Big Moot Sandwich earlier before the match! With the cage formed I started bashing away at the Chaos LoS, I was only able to get a push, and stun before one of my Black Orcs rolled a both down. My opponent seemed to be having better luck as it looked like he was going to stun my entire LoS, until he rolled an attacker down with a Beastman, who caused a turnover, and suffered a KO at the same time.

I stood up all my stunned players, and continued to move my cage up the left hand side of the pitch as this was the weakest point in my opponents defense. My opponent moved another Beastman over to attempt to stop the cage, while a Chaos Warrior rolled a both down on the LoS, and suffered a KO himself. Sadly I misclicked while trying to move one of my Black Orcs, and he was stunned as he tried to leave the tackle box of a Chaos Warrior!

My opponent moved another Beastman to try to stop my cage, and also tried to bust through the LoS, and flank my cage, but my defense held strong. The cage itself made short work of the four defending Beastmen, and I was able to run my Thrower into the end zone for the touchdown, bringing the score to 1-0 in my favor. My opponent received the kick off, recovered the ball with a Beastman, and tried for a short pass to gain some SPP, but failed to do so. With that turnover, the first half of the game came to an end.

Gob Redface Spikes The Ball After Scoring The First Touchdown

With half-time over, I kicked the ball off to my opponent who recovered the ball with a Beastman, and again went for a short pass, but fumbled the ball in the process causing a turnover. The right hand side of the LoS was wide open, with three players still knocked out, my opponent wasn't able to muster a solid defense on the LoS. I took full advantage of the situation, and sent two Linemen, and two Blitzers in, bringing myself with in four squares of the ball. This would force my opponent to recover the ball, and move it to the left side of the pitch where I'd already busted through the LoS on that side as well.

My opponent did exactly as I thought he would, he recovered the ball, and ran to the left side of the pitch trying to avoid my oncoming players. He formed up a cage with three Beastmen, however without a fourth player, the cage was exposed in the rear (hehe, he said exposed in the rear), and when my turn came around I was able to surround my opponents cage entirely and get his ball carrying Beastman into two of my players tackle boxes. Needless to say, that Beastman didn't hold onto the ball for very long, and it was fumbled right in front of one of my Black Orcs, and Lineman.

I quickly pushed, and stunned away any of my opponents players that were even remotely near the ball. With the ball solidly secure, I ran my Thrower up to recover it, and started moving him towards the end zone while being protected by a cage of Blitzers again. My opponent tried to defend, but Nuffle wouldn't have it, and a turnover was caused from a attacker down roll, sending a Beastman off to the CAS box with an injury. Ball in hand, my Thrower was able to run it into the end zone again scoring another touchdown, the score was now 2-0 in my favor.

Gob Redface Spikes The Ball After Scoring The Second Touchdown

I kicked the ball off to my opponent. Seeing their team loosing the game, some disgruntled fans rushed onto the field, and killed the referee in the hopes that a new referee would somehow change the outcome of the game. Naturally it didn't work, and my opponent recovered the ball on his last turn, and went for a short pass once more to try to gain some SPP, this time the pass was a success. There wasn't much my opponent could do, but bash away in the hopes of gaining more SPP, but a attacker down roll quickly brought my opponents last turn to an end. I went for a few blocks myself trying to score some more SPP, but wasn't able to gain anything significant.

The game was over, and I'd managed to secure another victory with my Orcs. I'd gained enough SPP to level up two Orcs. My Thrower, and a Blitzer. The Thrower I gave Dump-Off to since he was doing a lot more running, than passing, and my Blitzer gained Tackle. I also gained enough cash to purchase another Lineman for my team. With this win, I moved up to second place in the league.

Current Standings

1) Sneaky Jerks (Skaven)
2) Orkago Boars (Orcs)
3) Full-Field Press (Ogres)
4) Bro Elves (Elves)
5) Ashes & Dust (Undead)
6) Horn 'n' Scorn (Chaos)
7) Night Dragonnes (Dark Elves)
8) Graveyard Hex (Necromantic)
9) Flaming Geckos (Lizardmen)
10) Bestigor Freebooters (Chaos)

My next game I'm taking on an Ogre team named Full-Field Press. Now Ogre teams normally don't do well their first season, they just hurt people, and hurt them bad. However this Ogre team was doing really impressive so far. In their week two game, Full-Field Press played Horn 'n' Scorn, and absolutely destroyed them!  At the end of the game there were eight members of Horn 'n' Scorn in the CAS box, seven injured, and one dead. Below is a picture of the CAS box, should I be worried? Honestly, I really wasn't sure.

 That's One Scary CAS Box!

Blood Bowl: USA Bloodweiser League - Rookie Tournament

As I stated in my last write up, I've joined two new Blood Bowl leagues. The second of them being USA Bloodweiser league for season eight. Now season eight doesn't start until January, however a pre-season rookie tournament was created for us new coaches so that our teams could get a bit of experience before the regular season starts. I'm taking in a Khemir team named Necropolis Tomb Kings!

There are twenty six teams in a regular season, making up four divisions. However since this isn't the regular season, and it's a pre-season rookie tournament, there are only four teams total. I know it's pretty small, but still a good opportunity for me to build up some SPP for the regular season. There are two Vampire teams, a Halfling team, and my Khemir team. My first match as luck would have it (or not) would be against the Halflings!

Match Date: 12-02-2011

I'm up against two Treemen, and ten Halflings versus my four Tomb Guardians, two Blitz-Ra, one Throw-Ra, and five Skeletons. Now I had zero coins for inducements, however my opponent had 460K! Naturally he took a Halfling Master Chef (I can kiss my two re-rolls bye bye), and Star Player Zara the Slayer! Holy shit! Seriously? Now I had no experience playing a Khemir team, nor did I have any experience playing against a Khemir team, and I'm loosing all my re-rolls, and going to have to deal with Zara the Slayer as well? This wasn't starting out well for me.

I kept three Skeletons on the line, supported by my four Tomb Guardians on the sides of the pitch, each with a Skeleton, and kept my Throw-Ra, and two Blitz-Ra in the back field ready for the ball. I received the kick, and my Throw-Ra grabbed the ball. I formed up a cage with both my Blitz-Ra's, and one Skeleton on the right side of the pitch, while the nearest Tomb Guardian blitzed the closest Halfling hoping to open a hole, however all he got was a push. Two of my Skeletons on the line however busted through the opposing Halflings with ease, while a third rolled both down, yet managed to take a Halfling out of the game with a KO in the process.

My opponent, out for blood, moved Zara the Slayer, and four Halflings towards stopping my cage, a fifth Halfling also tried to move in, but failed a dodge, and was taken out by a Skeleton on the LoS causing a turnover, as well as being sent to the CAS box with an injury. With Zara, and her wall of Oompa-Loompa in my way, I ran my Throw-Ra to the left side of the pitch as it was wide open, however I didn't plan on going left. I'd actually planned on going straight up the middle of the pitch, but  I needed to make sure it looked like I was going left. If my plan worked, my opponent would move players to the left to try, and stop me as well as move Zara, and her pack of midgets down around behind my side of the LoS. If this happened, I could trap Zara, and her pack with the two Blitz-Ra, Skeleton, and Tomb Guardian, and on the left side of the pitch tangle up any players there with my other Tomb Guardians. It would be up to my Skeletons though on the LoS to open up a hole for me to charge through.

To my amazement, my plan actually worked. Zara, and her sausage fingered bastards became tangled up in a brawl with my two Blitz-Ra, Skeleton, and Tomb Guardian, while my other Tomb Guardians beat the crap out of the Treeman, and two Halflings on the left side of the pitch. My Skeletons of awesomeness on the LoS managed too open a nice hole for me to charge right though, they even took down a Treeman when my opponent rolled a both down! The only opposition I faced was a Halfling that was thrown by a Treeman, however he ended up face down, ass up in the dirt, while another Halfling blitzed to stop my Throw-Ra, only to be beaten down by one of my Tomb Guardians that was providing block support for the Throw-Ra. With nothing in my way, my Throw-Ra coasted into the end zone with ease scoring the touchdown, bringing the score to 1-0 in my favor.

Throw-Ra Nesheb Heror Scores The First Touchdown

I kicked the ball off to my opponent, and it landed deep in his back field. He moved two Halflings back towards the ball, while the rest of his team remained on the LoS, and tried to battle it out with my team. Amazingly, my opponent left both the right side, and left side of the pitch wide open, and both my Blitz-Ra were able to get into my opponents back field right near the ball. Unfortunately for my opponent he cause a turn over with an attacker down roll, and I had a damn good chance to quickly score again as one of my Blitz-Ra was only four movement points away from the ball. I blitzed one Blitz-Ra into one of the defending Halfling pushing him further away from the ball, while the other Blitz-Ra blitzed into the Halfling near the ball stunning him for two turns! The ball was right in front of my Blitz-Ra, all he had to do was pick it up, and move two spaces to score another touchdown, and of coarse he failed causing a turnover.

During my opponents turn  he wasn't able to get anything near the lone Blitz-Ra, and the ball, and eventually caused a turnover himself by failing a dodge from a Halfling trying to move off the LoS. The ball was one space from the end zone, all my Blitz-Ra had to do was pick it up, and move one space. Once again, the son of a bitch failed to pick up the ball, and caused a turnover! Damn you Nuffle!

Blitz-Ra Can't Pick Up The Ball

I don't see how some coaches opt to start with no Throw-Ra when building a rookie Khemir team, because clearly Blitz-Ra can't pick up the ball. My Blitz-Ra had two turns ... two friggin turns totally unopposed to score an easy touchdown, but couldn't pick up the ball. This was seriously disappointing! With that utter failure on my Blitz-Ra's part, the first half of the game came to an end.

I kicked off to my opponent, and a bunch of excited fans rushed onto the field, and beat the crap out of both our teams, or should I say my team as most of my team was stunned on the ground, while only one of his Halflings was stunned. A Treeman on the LoS opened up onto one of my Skeletons, injuring him, and sending him to the CAS box. Zara the Slayer blitzed through my defense, and went straight after my Throw-Ra with her annoying Stab, but failed to do anything. Four Halflings then surrounded one of my Tomb Guardians that had been knocked out by the fans, and fouled him, along with a Treeman for the KO.

I then blitzed Zara the Slayer with a Blitz-Ra hoping to get her off my Throw-Ra, but rolled an attacker down, and caused a turnover. Zara the Slayer then stabbed my Throw-Ra, and got the KO. Four Halflings attacked a Tomb Guardian, knocking him down, then fouled him, stunning him for two turns. A Treeman then flung a Halfling down the pitch, and the little turd landed on his feet, running into the end zone for the touchdown bringing  the game to a tie at 1-1. What a horrible way to open up the second half of the game!

My opponent kicked off to me, unfortunately my Throw-Ra was still out cold from Zara the Slayer's earlier stabbing, so it was up to my Blitz-Ra to pick the ball up (see Blitz-Ra can't pick up ball from earlier), and score a touch down to win this game. Yeah I know, I'm asking for a miracle here! Amazingly my Blitz-Ra picked up the ball on his first attempt, and started running up the pitch and I formed a cage around him. My opponent then flung a Halfling down field, and scored a bulls-eye hitting one of my cage defenders in the head, getting the KO on him. I couldn't help, but laugh my ass off at this, as I'd not seen it done since playing Blood Bowl this entire time. My opponent then tried to foul another one of my players, but failed as the referee ejected the culprit from the game.

 Bulls-eye ... Blitz-Ra Knocked Out

I continued moving my cage up the left side of the pitch, even putting Zara the Slayer on her ass for two turns when she got in the way. My opponent then flung another Halfling, which landed right behind my Blitz-Ra carrying the ball. The Halfling went for the tackle, but failed, and only got a push. A push which actually put my Blitz-Ra into a better defensive position, and his Halfling in even more harms way as the two Tomb Guardians protecting the Blitz-Ra with the ball were now in a position to open a can of whoop ass on him, however the lucky little bastard was able to dodge out of the way. I then fouled Zara the Slayer with a Skeleton to keep her down, the Skeleton was ejected from the game, but it was worth it as it kept her stunned for another two turns.

Another Halfling was flung, only this time he landed way off target, and in a whole lot of pain as he got stunned from the hard dirt landing. A near by Halfling tried to blitz into my Blitz-Ra, but rolled a both down, and was overwhelmed by my Blitz-Ra's block skill. My cage continued up the left side of the pitch unopposed, because Zara the Slayer failed her GFI, and again I was in a position to score a touchdown. At this point though my opponent turned his Treemen into Halfling cannons, as Halflings were flung all over the damn field in an attempt to knock down the Blitz-Ra carrying the ball.

Thanks to a successful GFI made by my Blitz-Ra, and many, many, many failed Halfling flingings I was able to score the winning touchdown, bringing home a victory of 2-1. It was an intense game, I had no experience playing a Khemir team, or playing against one, had no re-rolls, was going up against a Star Player in my first game with this team, and I still pulled out the win! I was pretty proud of myself at this point. It was a great game, against a great opponent.

Blitz-Ra Penhfe Sonankh Scores The Winning Touchdown

I didn't get enough winnings to purchase a second Throw-Ra like I wanted, however I did manage to level up a Blitz-Ra, and added tackle to his skills. My next match is against a Vampire team, a team I've never played against so it should be another intense match for sure!

Below are the Blood Bowl Manager league stats, there's not much there, but it's something at least. The Vampire vs. Vampire game is tonight at Midnight I believe. So hopefully they'll have their replay uploaded sometime tonight, and the stats will update along with it.

Blood Bowl: BBNA - S5 Mischief Conference Champ/Match Day #1

As I stated in an earlier write up, I've joined two new Blood Bowl leagues. The first of them being Blood Bowl North America in the season five Mischief Conference with an Undead team named Blackmourn's Blazers.

Now there are forty eight teams in this league, making up six divisions. I am in division five, which has been named the Psychotics Divisionand my first game was against a Nurgle team named 'Taint Nuthin!

Match Date: 12-02-2011

This time I'm up against one Beast of Nurgle, three Nurgle Warriors, three Pestigors, and four Rotters versus my two Wights, two Mummies, two Ghouls, and five Zombies. I lost the coin toss, and kicked off to my opponent. I kept three Zombies on the line, supported by a Wight, Mummy, and Zombie on each side of the pitch, with my Ghouls guarding in the back.

The kickoff resulted in a chance too move my players before he could catch the ball, I tried too Blitz with a Wight, but was quickly stopped by Foul Appearance! How I forgot about that I'll never know since I played a Nurgle team in the Ars Maximus league! I then moved my Ghouls up closer to the line in support.

The ball landed, and my opponent grabbed it up with one of his Pestigors, then quickly tried to pass it to another Pestigor close to the line of scrimmage, and failed, causing a turnover. I tried to capitalize on the fumble, and blitzed a Mummy into one of his Nurgle Warriors to open a hole, however Foul Appearance once again foiled my plan! I wasn't out though, one of my Zombies smacked down a Rotter on the line of scrimmage sending him to the causality box for the rest of the game. This opened a small hole, but it was enough for one of my Ghouls to dodge in, and grab the ball, however I was now in the tackle box of the Beast of Nurgle, and Tentacles prevented me from moving to safety.

My opponent then moved in his three Pestigors, surrounding my Ghoul, and the Beast of Nurgle was also still there, so I tried too pass the ball to my second Ghoul who was just behind the line of scrimmage, but again I'd forgotten about Disturbing Presence, and fumbled causing a turnover. Once again, how I forgot about that I'll never know!

The ball landed right in front of one of his Pestigors, and my opponent quickly tried to secure the ball by blocking all of my players that were near it, and succeeded in doing so, opening a huge hole right in the center of the pitch. Another Pestigor grabbed the ball, and quickly headed for support in the center of the pitch, thankfully though he rolled both down in an attempt to block one of my Wights.

My other Wight blitzed through a Rotter, and moved in on the Pestigor with the ball, followed by two Zombies, a Ghoul, and a Mummy. There was no way that Pestigor was going anywhere with that ball! Not sure why, but my opponent decided to try anyhow, and tried to move his Pestigor out of five tackle boxes, and failed, once again the ball had been fumbled.

I tried to secure the ball, however Foul Appearance stopped a blitz from my Mummy, and Tentacles stopped my Ghoul. I did manage to move my second Ghoul in towards the ball, but after all the blocking I put out, I wasn't able to secure the ball like I wanted.

A Pestigor managed to pick the ball up, move a little, then tried to pass the ball again, and failed. Not sure what my opponent was trying for here, but the turnover put me in a position to secure the ball, and comfortably run it one movement point shy of a touchdown. A Zombie who must have gotten excited at the thought of his team scoring the first touch down sent a Pestigor off to the causality box for the rest of the game as well.

Instead of trying to stop the touchdown with a blitz from his Pestigor, my opponent threw a block with a Nurgle Warrior against a Mummy, and rolled both down. Sadly instead of just scoring the touchdown, I decided to throw a block with my other Mummy against a Pestigor, and rolled both down, unbelievable! Not wanting to blow his chance of stopping the touchdown, my opponent blitzed with his Pestigor into my supporting Ghoul, however my Ghoul dodged the incoming Blitz.

Not wanting to blow my touchdown, I decided to run the ball carrying Ghoul into the end zone bringing the score to 1-0 on my last turn of the first half of the game. I kicked the ball off, however my opponent didn't really manage anything, but another fumble as he tried to pass the ball once again with a Pestigor, and failed, sending the game into half-time.

My opponent kicked the ball off to me, trying for what I think was an onside kick, however failed, and the ball was placed into the hands of one of my Ghouls. I quickly formed up a cage, and began my drive up the right side of the pitch, sending another Rotter off to the causality box with one of my Mummies, that makes three players down for my opponent so far. Stupidly however I tried to gang up three Zombies against the Beast of Nurgle, and managed to roll both down which resulted in one of my Zombies getting knocked out.

On the turnover, a Nurgle Warrior raged over the demise of his teammates, and busted off the jaw of one of my Zombies sending him to the causality box, but the Beast of Nurgle rolled attacker down against a Zombie quickly stopping my opponents good fortune! My cage continued it's drive up the pitch, on my opponents next turn though he was able to surround the cage, but then caused a turnover failing a go for it with a Nurgle Warrior. While I wasn't able to move the cage, I did manage to get the ball carrying Ghoul in a safe position supported by a Mummy. My opponent then tried to blitz with the same Nurgle Warrior that caused a turnover, and failed another go for it, causing a quick turn over.

It was time to get the ball into the end zone! My Mummy supporting the ball carrying Ghoul blitzed into the Rotter that was blocking my path, and killed him, forcing him to join the ranks of Blackmourn's Blazers as a Zombie for the rest of the game as I decided not to recruit him after the game ended. I now had a clear, safe path towards the end zone once more. My opponent tried to stop me, but was unsuccessful as I knocked out two more of his players, and ran the ball into the end zone for another touchdown bringing the score to 2-0!

Tuankhmun the Impaler kills Ian the Distateful

With only three turns left, my opponent wasn't able to get the ball past the line of scrimmage. He had four players in the the causality box, which left the line of scrimmage on his side weakened. I quickly busted right through, sending my Ghouls towards the Pestigor who'd recovered the ball from the kick off, who would also fail another pass, causing a turnover. For the next two turns nothing major happened except for one of my Zombies killing another one of my opponents Rotters when my opponent rolled a both down on an attempted block.

Quintus the Horrible kills Bob the Boiler

The game was over, and I'd brought home the victory with a 2-0 win! It was a great game, and my opponent was a great sport. I honestly did feel bad for him though, I know exactly what it's like to play a brand new Nurgle team, and take a severe beating like he just did. I took several of them during the Ars Maximus league.  However as I said, he was a great sport, and we both had fun during the match!

After the game I was able to level a Zombie up, and give him Block. I'd also earned enough cash with that victory to purchase my third Ghoul, which I was going to need as my next match in this league was going to be against Wood Elves!

Below are the Blood Bowl Manager league stats, as of right now they are not going to be totally accurate as not all the day one games have been played. However it'll give you a feel for the direction the league is going thus far.

Blood Bowl, Blood Bowl, Blood Bowl!

With Ars Maledicta underway, I decided it wasn't enough Blood Bowl too satisfy my cravings! So I joined up with two more Blood Bowl leagues.

The first new league is season eight of the USA Bloodweiser League, it doesn't start until January, however a rookie league was created for us too be able to get our teams some experience before the actual season starts, kinda like a pre-season for the NFL. This pre-season rookie league started today, and I'm taking in a Khemir team named the Necropolis Tomb Kings. Should be interesting, since I've never played a Khemir team, or played against one either.

The second new league is season five of the Mischief Conference (rookie coaches) of the Blood Bowl North American League, this league also started today, and I'm taking in an Undead team named Blackmourn's Blazers. I've played against several Undead teams before, but never played one myself. I'm pretty confident I should do fairly well. This is a huge league, with forty eight teams, and six divisions!

So needless to say, I've got quite the Blood Bowl schedule for this weekend! So stay tuned, as I should have three Blood Bowl updates for this weekend.
